VOYAGES IN
THE IMAGINAL REALM
These paintings explore journeys in the realm said to exist between the Imagination and the Spirit. The Romantics called it Imagination with a capital I, to differentiate it from ordinary imagination or fancy. The Sufis used a form of reverie to explore the Imaginal in their spiritual activity. Jung saw the imaginal as a way of working with the Collective Unconscious.
Here the paintings all share a darker palette and a preference for the symbolic and the dream-like.
